Strategic Ecologists

We are looking for senior consultant level Ecologists, with significant experience of applied experience, who are seeking an ecology role with a difference:

Locations 

Each role we are looking to recruit for will be hosted by a different consultancy and has options for Network Rail office:

• East Midlands – EMEC Ecology: Derby, Doncaster, Lincoln, Leicester, Bedford, Peterborough
• Anglia & Greater London – Future Nature: Norwich

Salary – Up to £44,172 dependent on location and experience

Contract Type – Contract type: Initial 12-month Fixed term, with potential extension to Oct 2025.

The Wildlife Trusts Consultancies (WTCs) have been engaged by Network Rail to deliver an extensive Biodiversity Plan throughout the Network Rail Eastern Region. The role will steerand implement landscape-scale biodiversity improvements throughout the Network Rail Eastern Region. The role offers the opportunity to work in a friendly, collaborative team in a major organisation and engage with key internal and external stakeholders. The role will also offer the opportunity to work with major technologies, including data gathering tools and GIS, to organise ecological information.

Day to day, the Strategic Ecologists will work under the guidance of the Project Manager, leading in the production of core project deliverables, with the support of Operational Ecologist(s). Initially in the first year, this will focus on:

• Biodiversity Inventory for the lineside estate, based on stakeholder and existing data
• Biodiversity Action Plans with overarching objectives for Routes
• Habitat Management Plans showing how the objectives will be put into practice
• Pilot development of implementation for future stages
• Supporting stakeholder engagement
• Supporting integration of plans into day-to-day working practices and standards

The role will move to working with internal and external teams to implement the plans into biodiversity interventions on the ground.

Operational Ecologists

Senior Ecologist

EMEC are looking for an experienced Senior Ecologist to join our team.

Location – Hybrid (Remote/The Old Ragged School, Nottingham) with regular travel within the Eastern Region

Salary – £34,653.82  – £36,766.21 per annum

Contract Type –  Permanent / Working hours: Full time

Closing Date – 12pm 31st May 2024

Initially you will work primarily with one of EMEC’s most significant clients, completing an innovative regional biodiversity project for a national infrastructure provider to deliver large-scale biodiversity improvements across their estate.

You will be an ecological lead for a section of the project and collaborate with a varied team of ecologists including senior industry leaders, to ensure the best ecological practice is incorporated into our clients new biodiversity processes.

Your knowledge and expertise will be utilised to produce Biodiversity Action Plans and Habitat Management Plans, creating a framework for long-term Biodiversity Net Gain at a regional scale.

As there will be travel required to our other sites and the Eastern region, a full, clean driving licence is essential.

Ecologists

We have an exciting opportunity for an Ecologists to join our experienced and friendly ecology team, based at our listed offices in the heart of the creative quarter in Nottingham.

Location – The Old Ragged School, Brook Street, Nottingham, NG1 1EA

Salary – £23,512.50 to £31,350 per annum

Contract Type – Permanent Full-time, 40 hours per week

Hybrid working between the office and remotely is acceptable and encouraged. There will be travel required to our other sites and reserves in the county, so a full, clean driving licence is essential.

Projects range in scale from large national delivery to small scale surveys. There’ll be opportunities to work with clients that really want to make a positive impact, and you can deliver everything from PEA’s, protect species surveys to inputting on large scale strategic plans and developments. We are a company that takes great pride in the quality of our work, and the outcomes for wildlife conservation.

You’ll be someone who wants to make a difference and help nature’s recovery. You’ll have a solid grasp of ecological surveying and reporting. Lots of passion is a must. Engagement Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Engagement Manager to join our friendly team. The Wildlife Trusts Consultancies (WTCs) have been engaged by Network Rail Eastern Region to deliver an extensive Biodiversity Plan throughout their Eastern Region.

Location – Hybrid remote, with option for EMEC or Network Rail office base dependent on location

Salary – £30,900-£36,050 pa (dependent on experience)

Contract Type – Fixed Term, 37.5 hours a week with TOIL

The successful candidate will facilitate the delivery of the Biodiversity Plan by engaging with external and internal stakeholders over biodiversity opportunity site development and data sharing. This will primarily be conducted through stakeholder relationship management including developing biodiversity improvement opportunities with third parties. It will also include supporting the collection and management of GIS data about the biodiversity sites. External stakeholders may include Government Bodies, Charities, Local Species Groups, Community Groups and Landowners.
