Blue Loop River Steward Vacancy
Looking for a chance to make a real difference to a waterway in the heart of Sheffield? The Blue Loop Community Project is a new project, funded by Natural England as part of its Access to Nature programme, funded by the Big Lottery Fund's Changing Spaces Programme. Managed by a partnership of Groundwork Sheffield and the River Stewardship Company, the project aims to support local communities to learn about and engage in the environment along the River Don and Tinsley Canal.
The Blue Loop River Steward will require excellent communication skills with strong partnership and project management skills enabling them to work with local communities and deliver successful projects. The successful candidate will also possess excellent organisational skills and experience of delivering a varied events programme including recreational activities, environmental education and volunteer days involved in practical site management work.
The successful candidate will possess a relevant degree or equivalent qualification and a good understanding of the issues affecting urban waterways and the challenges of engaging communities. A full, clean driving license and willingness to drive is essential.
The Blue Loop River Steward will by employed by the River Stewardship Company. Salary £24,400 for 37.5 hours (funded to January 2012)
